The End of The Cold War Did Not Bring Peace in the World, Arms and Wars Replaced the Cold War

The End of The Cold War Did Not Bring Peace in the World, Arms and Wars Replaced the Cold War

Mujeeb Khan

The decision to end the Cold War was indeed wrong. The world is a more dangerous place today than it was during the Cold War. President Biden has said that democracy is in danger. Democracy was also at risk during the Cold War, this situation has not changed. Since the end of the Cold War, bloody wars have increased dramatically. Record-breaking human destruction has occurred. The countries that were in the Western Bloc in the Cold War were the biggest losers. And Pakistan, which was on the front line in the Cold War, is standing on the front line as a loser. After the end of the Cold War, weapons production increased and new weapons were invented, including drones. Then wars were invented to use these weapons. All the wars that have been fought since the end of the Cold War just to keep the arms companies in business. The second Iraq War started in 2003 and ended in 2012. A trillion dollars were spent on this war. The Afghan war started in 2001 and this war ended 20 years later in 2021. That is, after the end of the Cold War, the world was kept at war for 30 years. While during these wars, war was fought in the name of regime change in Libya and Syria. And the battle is not over yet. Syria and Libya have been stuck in a state of war for eleven years. They have not yet been blessed with peace. The war against al-Qaeda in Yemen, which was launched by President George W. Bush was handed over to President Obama eight years later. President Obama continued the war against al-Qaeda for another eight years. And when President Obama’s eight years of tenure were completed, President Obama handed over the Yemen war to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf allies. These Gulf Arab countries fought a war with Yemen for 7 years. These Gulf Arab people had never fought such a long war in their history. These Arab countries used to buy billions of dollars worth of arms from the United States, Great Britain, and France to fight and win the war against Yemen. After all, President Biden ended the war in Yemen. The war in Yemen was over. US and NATO troops had left Afghanistan. The world breathed a sigh of relief. After five months, a new war was started in Europe against the country that ended the Cold War for peace in the world. And it was a NATO-US proxy war between Russia and Ukraine.

If the world knew the lack of interest of the United States and NATO countries in world peace, the world would never actively participate in ending the Cold War. What have peace-loving countries gained from the end of the Cold War? In the reports that have come on the increasing military spending in the world, it is stated that the United States has spent 877 billion dollars on its military in 2022, which accounts for 40 percent of all spending. The United States spend 76.4 billion dollars on education in 2022. The report said that the world’s governments had never spent as much on the military as is being spent now, and the United States is top of the list. In 2022, governments spent about 2.24 trillion dollars on the military, which is an increase of 3.7% compared to 2021. This is the biggest increase in more than 30 years.

China’s defense spending is $292 billion, an increase of 4.2 percent compared to last year. Russia is spending $86.4 billion on its defense, an increase of 9.2 percent due to the war in Ukraine. India is spending $81.4 billion on its defense, and it has increased by six percent.

Unions call for protests in France over the high prices and pension

After World War II, the United States Marshall Plan rebuilt the war-torn countries of Europe in a truly brief period, and they became industrialized countries in the 1960s. for seventy years, these countries had complete dominance over the world economy. The world financial institutions were under their control. They had a monopoly on commerce and trade. Now Ukraine war in the middle of Europe is rolling back 70 years of economic growth and prosperity in Europe. America is $31 trillion in debt, and by 2030 it will increase to nineteen trillion dollars. America will be the indebted superpower of the world. And Pakistan will be the most indebted nuclear power in the world. Both countries will be sitting on the branch of the fallen leaf tree and will look envious at the economic prosperity of those who do not owe anyone. However, the effects of the Ukraine war are now felt in Europe’s economy. Russia was a major trading partner of the European Union. By isolating a major trading partner, European countries have harmed their economies. European leaders and the United States believed that Russia would not be able to withstand its severe economic sanctions and would soon compromise on a ceasefire. But the Ukraine war has now entered its second year. Surprisingly, European countries have opened a war front with nuclear power in Europe. Russia has thousands of nuclear weapons. For Ukraine, Europe has made its enemy, but it will not go to war with Russia.

Europe’s leaders are particularly nervous about where the war in Ukraine will take them. In Europe, public anxiety about the war in Ukraine is increasing. Inflated cost of living and unemployment are the effects of this war that the people will face. There are protests in France over raising the retirement age and the pension issue. There is a protest in London over the rising cost of living. Germany, one of the largest economies in Europe, is shrinking. German companies are moving to China, according to reports from trade research institutes in Europe, 58,000 companies will go bankrupt in France by the end of this year. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has said that “the hegemony of the dollar threatened by US sanctions on Russia. Russia and Iran are looking to replace the dollar and China’s currency the yuan is gaining ground against the US dollar. And this is one of China’s it has long been ambitious to have its currency recognized in global trade. The US’s restrictive sanctions policy has opened the door to trade in more than one currency.

Saudi Arabia and the oil-producing countries of the Gulf have also announced to trade in Chinese currency. Iran is already trading with China and Russia in their currency. Brazil and Argentina have decided to trade in their own currency. India has announced that countries that cannot afford the dollar due to its high price can use Indian currency. On the other hand, the trade between European Union countries is in Euro. The trend to gain independence from the dollar-dominated world is growing. Trade in the region and among regional countries in local currency is promoted. In addition to US sanctions, there is pressure on the dollar from the increasing debts of the US.

Today, Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries are talking about payment of their oil in other currencies, after the first Gulf War, Iraq’s President Saddam Hussein refused to accept the payment of his oil in dollars. After him, Libyan President Gaddafi also refused to receive oil payments in dollars. They were such visionary leaders that they knew that one day the oil-producing countries would have to make this decision.

The Solution to the Israel-Palestinian Conflict is Not That Israel Has the Right to Defend Itself, This American Position Has Made Israel an Apartheid State

The Solution to the Israel-Palestinian Conflict is Not That Israel Has the Right to Defend Itself, This American Position Has Made Israel an Apartheid State

When will an FW Klerk emerge in Israel and announce the end of the apartheid with the Palestinians?

Al-Asqa Mosque Palestinian Run from tear gas fired by Israel's security forces

This year again, Israeli forces entered Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan, and the worshipers have tortured, they beat. They included Palestinian women, children, and the elderly. Last year also, the Israeli army entered Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan and harmed the worshipers. These are extremist right-wing settlers who have illegally occupied Palestinian lands near East Jerusalem and settled there. And now these settlers want the Palestinians to leave Jerusalem. Israel occupies the West Bank. The Jewish settlers have the advantage that they brutalize the Palestinians and then the Palestinians respond, and then comes the statement from the State Department that Israel has the right to defend itself, with this statement, the settlers get behind the Israeli government and the right to defend Israel comes forefront. Settlers who have invaded Palestinian homes, they also have the same right to defend themselves. The Israeli army entered Al-Aqsa Mosque and started terrorizing worshippers. This is also a form of terrorism. And when terrorists worldwide shoot and kill worshipers in Jewish synagogues, Muslims condemn it and express their solidarity with them. It is the responsibility of the Israeli government to provide security to the Palestinians, protect the holy places of Islam and maintain peace.

America’s Middle East policy is war and peace. There is talk of peace and wars begin, wars continue, and peace does not come. As in Syria, people here have been hanging for eleven years in war and peace. US forces have been occupying the eastern part of Syria for eleven years. The US says its forces are fighting ISIS here. The leader of ISIS has killed in a US drone strike, and only on this mission are US troops in northern Syria. Iran’s forces are also in Syria on the same mission, and they are fighting alongside Syrian forces against ISIS. But here, Israel continues to bomb Iran’s military supporting ISIS. Iranian soldiers have been killed in Syria in Israel’s bombing. Syria is a sovereign country and the Syrian government asked Iran for help against ISIS, and Iran’s forces are helping Syria in this fight. When Israel bombards Iran’s military in Syria, it means Israel favors ISIS. It is a puzzle US forces are pursuing ISIS in northern Syria. Israel drops bombs on Iranian forces in Syria who are pursuing ISIS with Syrian forces. Israel’s problem is Iran, not ISIS.

Missiles also reported coming from Lebanon. The name is Hezbollah also came up. But Netanyahu had a soft tone. The reason for this was the commercial agreement with Lebanon on the discovery of gas in the Mediterranean that the United States made in Lebanon and Israel. Under this agreement, both countries will share the profits from the sale of gas. Hezbollah has supported this agreement. Similarly, Israel has commercial agreements with the Gulf states which are important for Israel. On the other hand, with the restoration of Saudi Arabia-Iran relations, a new map of Middle East politics is created. Saudi Arabia has supported Syria’s restoration of Arab League membership, eleven years after Arab countries are resuming diplomatic relations with Syria. In these changes in the Arab world, Israel will see the ultra-right religious settlers as troublemakers.
