Russia and China Have Taught the Taliban to Engage in
Political Dialogue, Forty Years Later, The Taliban Have Laid Down Their Arms,
The United States sees the Taliban Without Weapons as Weird

Twenty years later,
when the Afghan war has decided to end American troops have gone, so now it said
that the decision to end the war and call forces done in haste. Due to chaos is seen in Kabul. This chaos was evidence of twenty years of failure of the
United States in Afghanistan. It said that President Biden’s decision was wrong.
However, it is too early to say whether the decision to end the war was wrong. Decisions
are never wrong in the interest of peace and saving human lives. The primary
signature on the Afghan war was that of President George W. Bush and the secondary
signature was that of President Obama, which was to prolong the war. Fighting
a pointless war for twenty years was just stupidity. When the Taliban weakened
in eight years of President Bush, they could not defeat, but in the eight years
of President Obama, the Taliban had become three times stronger, how was it
possible to defeat them? Instead of wasting the American people’s time in
Syria, President Obama should have worked 24/7 to free the United States from
the war in Afghanistan. President Obama should have judged that the Afghan war
could not be won, and the other way should have been able to save the face.
However, the Taliban
have emerged victorious on the battlefield and at the negotiating table. When the
Taliban were mujahideen in the 1980s, the United States taught them to defeat Soviet
forces with weapons, but seeing neither side succeed in the Afghan war, Russia
and China taught the Taliban the ‘power of dialogue.’ And the Taliban will succeed
at the negotiating table. The ceasefire agreement with the Taliban has signed by
President Trump and President Biden has completed the agreement.
To create the
impression that the Kabul government fell due to the implementation of the
agreement with the Taliban and with it all the state institutions also
collapsed. In twenty years, the Afghan army and security agencies that had been created to protect the state had disappeared from the Taliban’s clutches. And
how did it all happen? The US leadership and military commanders should talk about
this, they must answer these questions. How the experiment of democratizing a
tribal society and highly regressive religious customs has failed. President
Bush and his advisers have made a fool of themselves by making the Afghan
Warlords an ally of the United States against the Taliban. On the one hand, the
US military was collaborating with Warlords to eliminate the Taliban and on the
other hand, the Bush administration was making Warlords pillars of democracy
and Afghanistan’s democratic institutions built on it. The Taliban were a large
part of the Pashtun population, but they kept out of the political process to
continue the war. Uzbeks and Tajiks were in key government institutions. There were
also Uzbeks and Tajiks in the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior,
the Intelligence, and the Army. When these institutions formed and the military
and security training completed, it was a big mistake of the US military
commanders to use these institutions against the Taliban. They should have
thought that one day they would leave Afghanistan, but Uzbeks, Tajiks, Taliban must
stay here with these institutions. The US commanders should have somehow made
the Taliban part of these institutions. When the military strategy was not
working then the political strategy should have come forward. Surprisingly, the
only country in the world which was promoting democracy in Afghanistan for
twenty years has had only a military strategy.
In twenty years, the
Taliban have learned politics. Politics has told them that politics is done by
keeping arms, not by carrying arms. Politics must be compromised. Politics has
taught the Taliban to make decisions with a cool head. In five months, they have
managed the situation politically. Uzbeks and Tajiks have not joined the
government. Twenty years of hatred have given some time to be reconciliation. They
will then hold talks with them to make Afghanistan a united country. Corruption
was rampant in Afghanistan in the presence of US and NATO forces and is now controlled
by the Taliban. There is no doubt that Afghanistan is facing an extremely acute
situation now. US economic sanctions have played a leading role in exacerbating
the situation in Afghanistan. However, despite these conditions, Afghanistan is
on the path of stability, it is unfortunate that NATO countries are not at the forefront
of peace, but at the forefront of creating conditions for war.
