The coming to power of Benjamin Netanyahu means
that now the killing of the Palestinians is certain. Netanyahu’s hand is in the
blood of the Palestinians. Netanyahu had just taken over the government and
killed nine Palestinians. In response, a Palestinian killed seven Israelis. This
has been going on for seven decades and no one has any solution. Those who
created Israel and told the Palestinians that their independent states will
also be side by side. But seven decades have passed, and two Palestinian
generations left the world for them to have an independent state in which their
children will live freely. But those who are champions of human rights in the
world do not feel guilty that Palestinians have been deprived of human rights
for seven decades. This is not a question of religion or antisemitic, this is
a question of humanity. Israeli guns and tanks have been standing on the necks
of Palestinians for seventy years. This is a new record of military occupation of
a population in the world. Those countries should be ashamed who talk about the
free world, but in seventy years they have not given the Palestinians the
freedom of this free world. The way Black
people were treated in America in the 50s and 60s is what is happening to
Palestinians in Israel today. In America, if white people take bulldozers to go
to the areas of Black people and start demolishing their homes, what will they
do?
Among all the presidents who came to power in
America till now, President Bill Clinton made tireless efforts for the rights
and freedom of the Palestinians. He was a devoted friend of the Palestinians. During
President Clinton’s administration, Chairman Yasser Arafat visited the White
House the most no other head of state in the world had made so many visits
to the White House. President Clinton was from a southern state in the United
States where racism against blacks was brutal. Therefore, President Clinton was
aware of the sufferings of the Palestinian apartheid. President Obama was
America’s first Black president, but President Obama did nothing to resolve the
Palestinian conflict. President Clinton negotiated the peace talks between
Israel and the Palestinians and the resulting agreements. President Bush put
them in storage. And allowed Israeli leaders to impose their solution on the
Palestinians. President Obama should have advanced the peace process from the
issues that were agreed upon between Israel and the Palestinian and the agreement
that was signed by President Clinton. President Obama reaffirmed the
agreements that had been reached between Israel and the Palestinians and continued
efforts for a final solution to the conflict. President Obama could have
appointed former President Bill Clinton as a special envoy to resolve the
dispute. President Obama did not consider the Israel-Palestinian conflict
important. Instead, the wars that President Bush did not end, President Obama
went ahead with them. President Obama took the wars to Libya, Syria, and Yemen.
America’s wars in the Arab world were making families refugees, and in Israel,
the government used to destroy the houses of Palestinians with bombs and
bulldozers and make them homeless. And then new Jewish settlements were built on
their land.
This American policy
has continued since Henry Kissinger when he was Secretary of State, and
whenever there was a war between the Arabs and Israel. Henry Kissinger would
pick up his briefcase and leave for a Middle East peace mission. He used to
give bandages to the Arabs, and Israel was told not to make any new adventures
until the wounds of the Arabs were healed. This is the role of America for six
decades. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, comforted him, and gave him a bandage. Secretary
Blinken told Prime Minister Netanyahu that if he wanted to have diplomatic relations
with Saudi Arabia, he would have to rein
in the fanatical religious extremists in his government.
The United States
told the leaders of the Arab Islamic countries that when the Cold War ends,
they will resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict. Then it was said that Saddam Hussein
is a big obstacle in the solution of this conflict, when the problem of Saddam
Hussein is solved, then the Palestine-Israel conflict will be solved. Then it
was said when terrorism ends, then the Palestine-Israel conflict will be resolved.
Then it was said that the Palestinians should bring new leadership and there will
be negotiations with them.
And now the rulers
of the Gulf have recognized Israel and established relations with it that will
help solve the Palestinian problem. But there are no signs of that. There is no
change in Israel’s attitude towards Palestinians. The pace of displacing
Palestinians and building new Jewish settlements has accelerated.
