The End of The Cold War Did Not Bring Peace in the World, Arms and Wars Replaced the Cold War

The End of The Cold War Did Not Bring Peace in the World, Arms and Wars Replaced the Cold War

The decision to end the Cold War was indeed wrong. The world is a more dangerous place today than it was during the Cold War. President Biden has said that democracy is in danger. Democracy was also at risk during the Cold War, this situation has not changed. Since the end of the Cold War, bloody wars have increased dramatically. Record-breaking human destruction has occurred. The countries that were in the Western Bloc in the Cold War were the biggest losers. And Pakistan, which was on the front line in the Cold War, is standing on the front line as a loser. After the end of the Cold War, weapons production increased and new weapons were invented, including drones. Then wars were invented to use these weapons. All the wars that have been fought since the end of the Cold War just to keep the arms companies in business. The second Iraq War started in 2003 and ended in 2012. A trillion dollars were spent on this war. The Afghan war started in 2001 and this war ended 20 years later in 2021. That is, after the end of the Cold War, the world was kept at war for 30 years. While during these wars, war was fought in the name of regime change in Libya and Syria. And the battle is not over yet. Syria and Libya have been stuck in a state of war for eleven years. They have not yet been blessed with peace. The war against al-Qaeda in Yemen, which was launched by President George W. Bush was handed over to President Obama eight years later. President Obama continued the war against al-Qaeda for another eight years. And when President Obama’s eight years of tenure were completed, President Obama handed over the Yemen war to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf allies. These Gulf Arab countries fought a war with Yemen for 7 years. These Gulf Arab people had never fought such a long war in their history. These Arab countries used to buy billions of dollars worth of arms from the United States, Great Britain, and France to fight and win the war against Yemen. After all, President Biden ended the war in Yemen. The war in Yemen was over. US and NATO troops had left Afghanistan. The world breathed a sigh of relief. After five months, a new war was started in Europe against the country that ended the Cold War for peace in the world. And it was a NATO-US proxy war between Russia and Ukraine.

If the world knew the lack of interest of the United States and NATO countries in world peace, the world would never actively participate in ending the Cold War. What have peace-loving countries gained from the end of the Cold War? In the reports that have come on the increasing military spending in the world, it is stated that the United States has spent 877 billion dollars on its military in 2022, which accounts for 40 percent of all spending. The United States spend 76.4 billion dollars on education in 2022. The report said that the world’s governments had never spent as much on the military as is being spent now, and the United States is top of the list. In 2022, governments spent about 2.24 trillion dollars on the military, which is an increase of 3.7% compared to 2021. This is the biggest increase in more than 30 years.

China’s defense spending is $292 billion, an increase of 4.2 percent compared to last year. Russia is spending $86.4 billion on its defense, an increase of 9.2 percent due to the war in Ukraine. India is spending $81.4 billion on its defense, and it has increased by six percent.
